Analysis on the cause of high-resistive water layers in oil reservoir in Lithologic-fault blocks.
Abstract:
The reservoir of Baiju Oilfield mainly includes the sedimentary estuarine bars and sheet sand at the delta front, the oil reservoir is of Lithologic-fault block type. As it is subjected to the control of sedimentary environment, the sand body has a relatively independent oil-water system; at the same time, the frequent tectonic movements are causing fault developments in the region. So the secondary small faults can easily damage the temperature-pressure system of the original oil reservoir, causing volatilization of the light fraction of the crude in the reservoir, and the heavy asphaltene sticking onto the surface of the rock particles, resulting in the formation of local water layers in the oil reservoir.
