I must say that American born Chinese is more popular than America-born Chinese, but I don't think the latter is wrong. An America-born Chinese means a Chinese born in America, just like A China-made Long March 3B rocket is a rocket made in China. The mistake does not lie in "America-born Chinese" but in my explanation of "American born Chinese".I consulted 英汉大词典(P3) before I answered the question, by which I don't mean a dictionary is always right.
