「复合形容词」(pound adjective)是由两个单字组成，并在中间加上连字号后变成形容词，可用来形容人的特质或其他特殊含义。
Engvid的讲师Emma提出了9种复合形容词，例如在「mind」这个单字前面加上「open」、「closed」、「absent」，在稍作变化就能用来表现不同的心理状态。因此学会复合形容词，能在现有的单字量之下翻玩出更多变化！
1. Open-minded 心胸宽阔的e.g. I tried to eat the local food because I’m open-minded. 我试着要品尝当地食物，因为我是个心胸宽阔且乐于接受新事物的人。
2. Close-minded 思想保守、不易接受新事物的e.g. My mother won’t try anything new. She is close-minded. 我的母亲从来不尝试新的事物，她是个思想较为保守的人。
3. Absent-minded 心不在焉的e.g. Lara is absent-minded. She fot to do her homework. Lara有些心不在焉，她还忘了做作业。
4. Laid-back 脾气很好
Lara’s teacher is laid-back. He wasn’t angry. Lara的老师脾气很好，他并没有生气。
5. Hard-working 努力工作、勤勉的e.g. My boss likes me because I’m hard-working. 我的老板很喜欢我，因为我很努力工作。
6. Self-conscious 不自然、害羞的e.g. When I wore my pink hat, I felt self-conscious. 当我戴上我的粉红色帽子，我觉得有些害羞。
7. Cool-headed 冷静沉着的e.g. In an emergency, I’m cool-headed. 当紧急状况发生时，我沉着以对。
8. Hot-headed 急躁的I get angry quickly. I’m hot-headed. 我较为急躁，很容易生气。
9. Two-faced 双面的e.g. She’s o-faced. You can’t trust her. 她是个双面人，你不可以相信她。
